In this section I've brought together links about topics related to Aussie plants and fire.  Learn more about:

Managing fire for biodiversity – programs linking science to management

The fire ecology research literature in Australia is extensive and fragmented.  Here's some initiatives that aim to pull it together into a form that's useful for land managers:

The Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium started life as the South-east Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium.  A partnership between a wide range of agencies, particularly local governments, QLDFBC hosts workshops, produces materials, holds seminars, and keeps members informed of the latest research.  Anyone can sign up for their E-News.  I was the Consortium’s initial coordinator from 1999 to 2001.

Hotspots is a partnership between the NSW Rural Fire Service and the NSW Nature Conservation Council  Hotspots works with bushland managers, particularly private landholders, encouraging aware and biodiversity-friendly fire management.  I was the first Hotspots ecologist, from 2006 to 2008.

North-eastern NSW also has a community fire management group, the Northern Rivers Fire and Biodiversity Consortium.
